Performer
I am a performer and teacher of percussion speciaiising in styles of Afro-Brazliian origin.
I trained as a percussionist and oboist from the age of 10 and have studied (and continue to do so) the folkloric and popular musical styles of Brazil and their roots in the Afro-Brazilian religion - Candomble. More recently, I have also immersed myself in the folk traditions of the UK, performing with Martha Tilston and a new outfit - Hot Tin Cat, playing what we have coined dubbed out trip-folk.
I have played with a range of groups over the years including:
Verde Vai (london) - one of the UK's top Samba grousp Rio style led by the legendary Joe Hanson
Carnival Collective (Brighton) - BRightons original 'Samba' group fusing brazilian percussion instruments and modern grooves
Maracatu Estrela De Norte (London) - Maracatu London Style
Martha Tilston & The Woods (UK) - Martha is a sublime English folk singer with several albums to her name with an illustrious career already carved
Fanfara - Brightons own (and probably only) Romani brass and percussion group
